Blackie, Jocelyne

BLACKIE, Jocelyne

1942 - 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jocelyne Blackie (née Frenette) in Ottawa, Ontario on Monday, July 25, 2022. Devoted wife to Robert for 55 years.  She was a caring mother to Suzanne Blackie and loving mother-in-law to Michel de Breyne and proud Grandma to Zak and Matthieu.  Survived and lovingly remembered by her brother, Jean-Pierre.  Aunt, cousin, Godmother, friend to many who loved and cherished her.  A nurse with a lifelong caring attitude and a thirst for knowledge, Jocelyne was always interested in people and helping everyone, especially the ones she loved and cared for.  Jocelyne’s charitable heart was a gift to all who met her.  She may have been tiny in stature but she was a giant and a warrior.  She will be dearly missed.

Two celebration of life services will be held, one in Ottawa and one in Montreal, dates to be determined, later in the summer, early fall. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.fco-cfo.coop

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to “Cornerstone Housing for Women” (https://cornerstonewomen.ca/), a charity that held a strong place in Jocelyne and Robert's heart.

"A Giant" is absolutely correct when remembering such a dear, kind friend, Jocelyne. Her fierce pride in family and always doing the right thing left a lasting impression.

Jocelyne's integrity, perseverance (!!), and intellectual prowess was already evident early on when we met at university

As such a sage mature student, Jocelyne led by example and was always ready to successfully do way more than her share all the while never seeking the spotlight and definitely inspiring others along the way. A proud Registered Nurse to the core and a fine one at that!

Pocket Rocket, Jocelyne, thank you for the memories. Robert, Suzanne and family: please accept our most sincerest condolences.
