Ennis, Keith Harold

ENNIS, Keith Harold

1931 - 2018

Surrounded by his family, Keith, 87, slipped away on Sunday 28 October 2018. He is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 60 years, two children, Nancy (Tom) and Peter (Donna). Sadly missed by his 6 grandchildren James, Sarah, Rachel, Jeffrey, Jacob, and Kasey.

Keith achieved the rank of Major as an engineer in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving at multiple posts including Petawawa ON, Dundurn SK, Gimli MB, and as a liaison officer in London England. After his military retirement Keith continued working at DND Ottawa as a civilian engineer for another 13 years until 1991. Dad always needed a project, something to build, fix, or improve upon.

In his spare time, he enjoyed officiating at OTFA track and field events as a starter for many years, including the World Indoor Championships and the Canadian Senior Championships. Keith was also an avid runner until the age of 80, when the effects of Parkinson's disease became unmanageable. He was particularly proud of having run 18 marathons, including 2 Boston.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Keith's caregivers at the Maplewood Retirement Community who attended to his needs. Your caring and compassion are so greatly appreciated.

Honouring his wishes, a private cremation was held on Sunday 4 November and there will be no funeral or memorial event. Condolences can be left below.
