Hélène Bourbonnais (née Houle)

1939-2021

On the morning of January 22nd, surrounded by the love of her daughters, Hélène Boubonnais (née Houle) went to join Jean-Guy, the love of her life.  She was a generous, loving, loyal, unifying, determined spouse, grandmother, and friend. She bequeaths to her entire tribe the sense of family and tradition, perseverance and confidence.

She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses: Chantal, Sylvie (Laurier Giroux) and Julie (Nicolas Cadieux).   Her grandchildren Louis, Philippe, Jean, Sophie-Claude and Amélie received a lot of love from their grandmother.  We will miss this inspiring and generous woman who was always a beacon for us.

Her sisters-in-law Pierrette Polnicky, Nicole Lecomte, Diane Bourbonnais, Lise Houle and Frances Houle, as well as her nieces, nephews, neighbours and colleagues will remember an amazing woman with a big heart.  She has gone to join her parents Jean-Marie and Noellia; her brothers Fernand, Marcel, Gaston, Jean-Noel and Yvon; her sisters Marie-Marthe, Carmelle, Pauline and Jeannette as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law.

A special thanks to our families, to Megan Sicard, to the LHIN team and Dr. Wheatley-Price, as well as to all the friends, cousins, colleagues, neighbors, attendants, nurses, doctors who have supported us over the past few years.  Despite COVID, we never felt alone and this support made a real difference.

Mes sincères sympathies à toute la famille.

Par l'entremise de Jean-Guy j'ai eus le plaisir de rencontrer sa chère Hélène dont il était inséparable. Elle était toute aussie gentille et attentionée que lui. Ils sont maintenant réunis à nouveau. Je voudrais aussi offrir mes sympathies à sa belle soeur Lise Houle, ancienne collègue à EDC.

Nous avons beaucoup aimé et apprécié Hélène et Jean-Guy depuis plus de 60 ans. Nous avons vécu ensemble à Blackburn Hamlet en vacance en Gaspésie, Nouveau-Brunswick et en Floride. On aimait échanger avec eux, rire et pleurer aussi et partager beaucoup de petits repas. Nous allons les manquer, mais nous gardons de précieux souvenirs. Les amitiés comme celle-là ne meurent jamais.
