Mayer, Marian
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marian Mayer on Friday March 24 2023,
peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Marian was born in McGregor Ontario as the beloved youngest child of Omer Mayer of Noelville,
Ontario and Helene (Meloche) Mayer of McGregor Ontario, and the best friend and soulmate of
Stephen Michell. Marian was the exceptional youngest sister to Anita, Maurice (died 1973),
Irene, and Statton. Marian was the loving mother of Joel (Fran), Stephen, Kendra (Michael),
Alex (Elizabeth), Samantha (Narissa) and Alexandra (Brian); her sister Irene and Anita; and
beloved grandchildren - Julia, Emma, Laura, Eryn, Eva, James, Gavin, Saturn, Liam, Henry and Andrew.
Marian was adored by staff, coteachers, and countless students as a teacher in the Ottawa
School Board (Queen Mary School).
Marian loved to travel and used school breaks and retirement to explore the world with her soulmate,
with her sister and with her children and grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family at the North Grenville Community Church at
2659 Concession Road in Kemptville on 5 April from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held on April 6
at the Hope Cemetery at 4660 Bank Street Ottawa (Gloucester) at 11 am followed by a reception at 2 pm
at the North Grenville Community Church, 2659 Concession Road in Kemptville.
Donations to the ALS Society of Canada in Marian’s name are requested in lieu of flowers.
