Nancy Gobel (nee Goddard), of Ottawa, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2021 after a short battle with leukemia. She was born to the late Ann and Percy Goddard, January 27, 1939, in London, Ontario.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Gobel; three children: Steve (Ursula), Glen and Diane (Jeff); and five grandchildren Sarah, Scott, Tanner, Evan, and Daniel, as well as her honorary grandchildren, Justin and Lauren. Predeceased by her sister Marion McDowell, she will be remembered by her brother Robert Goddard (JoAnn) and her nieces and nephews.

Nancy studied at Western University and the University of Ottawa where she received her Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree in Education. She enjoyed a long career with the Carleton Board of Education and the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. Nancy was a gifted teacher and went on to work as a Vice-Principal and Principal.

After retirement, she enjoyed extensive travel and involvement in show biz, as performer, script writer, and producer of the annual show production at the Sun-N-Fun Resort in Sarasota where she and her husband spent the winter months for almost 20 years. Nancy led a long life filled with love, friends, and wonderful experiences.

Bill, our deepest sympathies. We have such incredible moments to remember and sharing the musical theatre with you both. What a talent Nancy was and we will always remember Phyllis Diller!!! Audrey and Bruce Gilbert, Toronto, Ontario

She was such a bright light of kindness, intelligence, humor and talents. We all adored Nancy. Always kind. Always upbeat. She showed her love every single day. Love of life, family and her exquisite marriage.
If you need any help, your Sun N Fun family is here for you. I am going to look into buying her a brick or doing some type of remembrance in her name.
God bless. Kindest Regards and continual prayers, Colleen Pierson

Rick and Wendy send our deepest sympathy to all the family. Nancy was an amazing friend at SnF. We enjoyed several activities together, pentaque, water aerobics, the musical theater. Nancy was always fun, witty, and a lovely lady. We will miss her.

Nancy had and gave the gift of making everyone feel as if you were a long term and very special friend. So inviting, so gracious, so generous with time and talents and encouragement. Had to be a teacher . We wish could have been her students and it felt like we were. And personally, if I had been a kid in her school I probably would have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to get myself sent to the principal’s office more often just for the sheer joy of being with her. We will miss her now and long remember.

What can you say about a heartbreaking loss. I will never be able to forget working with Nancy, and you, on the SNF musical. Her humor, wit, and that sprinkle in her eye when she had a great idea.
Tom and I send our sincere sympathies to you and your family.

I am very sad to receive the news from Diane today and would like to offer you and yours my sincere condolences. After our last exchange of mails on Oct. 10, Thanksgiving, I thought Nancy was recuperating from her last round of Chemo and decided to wait for more news and to not disturb that process. I am particularly sad that both of you couldn't take a trip to the lake last summer for a visit as the ones we used to have for many years when we had adjacent cottages. As you know, you and Nancy have been sorely missed as the best neighbours I ever had anywhere since you sold but at least we had the many emails keeping us in touch, but now these unfortunate news.
I will always remember Nancy.
