BLYTHE, Susan Marie

Susan Marie Blythe (born L’Oiseau), 69, of Ottawa, Ontario, passed away on December 25, 2023.  She died, after a short illness, peacefully, pain-free and surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Sweet lass by the sea; her soul a part of its deep melody. She weathered storms with strength and grace. Like the ocean, her heart knew boundless depths. Her laughter echoes like waves on the shore.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1220 Old 10th Line Road, Orleans.  Reverend Laurelle Callaghan of Queenswood United Church will officiate.  Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Funeral Cooperative of Ottawa.  The service will be live-streamed https://www.graceorleans.ca

Susan was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on January 19, 1954.  She graduated from Graham Creighton High School, where she made many life-long friends, and went on to receive diplomas in administration, accounting and event management.

Susan was married to Stanley Blythe on October 12, 1974; they were married for 49 years.

Susan worked many years in administration and accounting, and ran her own company for the latter.  She enjoyed sewing and knitting, but her passion was caring for her family, especially her children, nieces and nephews.

Susan is survived by her spouse, Stanley, her grandchildren Ellis and Katelyn, her mother Joan (Michael), her brothers and sisters David (Paula), Catherine, Christopher (Suzanne) and Stephen, her children Amanda and John, her brother-in-law David, her sisters-in-law Patricia and Deborah and her nieces and nephews Stacey, Shawn, Gavin, Jen, Kristen, Andre, Ashley, Tyler, Daniel, Matthew, Peter and Ky.

Susan is preceded in death by her father Peter L’Oiseau and her daughter Laura Blythe.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Shepherds of Good Hope Ottawa, the Ottawa Food Bank or the Salvation Army.  The family of Susan Marie Blythe wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and other staff of the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus, Geriatric ward who cared for her so well.
