Our family is deeply saddened to inform, Evangeline Mary Smith (Vangie) passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the age of 87 years in Ottawa, Ontario. Born Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.
Predeceased by her parents, Emma (nee Royer) and Simon Ignatius Cleary. Beloved wife of the late Dave Smith. Vangie was a loving mother to Rosanne Smith (Don Udell), Susan Boisvenue (Pierre), Richard Smith (Lisa Peterson-Smith), Ron Smith, Lorraine Matchett and the late Paula MacKie. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and great grandchildren Desmond, Ariana and Niklaus.
She was the dear sister of the late Raymond (late Alice), late Jimmy (Una), late Charlie (Dorothy), late Billy (Caroline), Roy (Gertie), Thomas (Shirley), late Lillian (late Stan Henneberry), Jeanette Eddy and late Clara, late Rosemarie, late Betty-Lou and Lucille (Sam Morris). She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Vangie was born in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, living the Navy life, finally settling in Ottawa. She was a former real estate agent / Broker and worked at Minto. She loved dancing and music. Evangeline was very angelic, passionate, outgoing personable woman who loved spending time with her family and friends. She will surely be missed for her love of life.
Special thanks to the Ruddy Shenkman Hospice for their phenomenally care and the Funeral Co-operative of Ottawa for their service and arrangements. A family memorial service and celebration of life will be held. Interment at New Union Cemetery, Williamsburg, Ontario.
