NALES, Johannes Jan
John Nales, 73, of Ottawa, passed away on May 8th, 2018 from the effects of Parkinson's Disease with his wife at his side. He accepted and lived gracefully with the disease over the years despite the daily challenges of continual declining health.
Beloved husband, and best friend for over 50 years, of Irene. He was a loving 'Papa' to his daughters Marit (Craig) and Freya (Sheldon), and proud 'Opa' of his grandchildren, Jay, Linus, Oliver and Clara, all of Ottawa. He will be greatly missed by his family in The Netherlands and France.
John was adventurous and loved his travels through Europe, the Middle East, and throughout North America. Born in the Netherlands, he immigrated to Canada with his family in 1982, where he became a proud Canadian. He always enjoyed challenging himself intellectually, and loved his work as an IT consultant until his retirement due to illness.
John loved reading, classical music, and good food. He especially enjoyed and appreciated the outdoors in both summer and winter - values that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. John was a free-spirited, fun-loving person, and he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren up until his final weeks of life.
Always a generous soul, John donated his organs to give others a better life.
John, you will always be in our hearts.
