Anthony & family; and to Michel and Pierre

My sincere condoleances.
I borrow the words of Mary Oliver, a poet certainly known by Larry.

“ I believe in kindness
Also in mischief
Also in singing
especially when
singing is not prescribed. ”

Lawrence B Gamache

Larry, you were the most influential person in my life. Our close friendship began when I made my way to Ottawa, (by myself) to tell you that I was gay at the age of 16. I miss you everyday. I will make sure that I stay close with Mike and Pierre and visit Ottawa on a regular basis like I have done for these last 52 years. You taught me how to be a man and the importance of family. I look forward to seeing you again one day in heaven.

Dr. Larry Gamache

"Call me Larry for God's sake," you said after I had taken a couple of classes with you at Ottawa U and we had also got the Hopkin's Society meetups happening again upstairs at the La Chandelle Restaurant on Laurier. I was always more comfortable with "Dr. Gamache" as it seemed appropriately respectful, but I did my best to try the Larry thing once in a while. I really loved the classes I had with you, and am also thankful that you introduced me to fellow student Robert P. as we became good friends just as you thought we would. Your dog Lucy was also always a fun treat to visit with at your office. Thanks so much for everything, especially sharing your wonderful mind and the craft of writing with us. I hope you are in a good place in the universe. Your memory is much treasured by us here. Robert P. and I are taking a course in Modernism 40 years later, and it seems like a great way to toast your memory! Robert D.
