Margaret will be sadly missed by her wider family, broad circle of friends, colleagues and neighbours whose many lives she touched.
Trained in Birmingham, U.K. in the early 1960s, she nursed in England, Uganda, and Canada (Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick). Margaret trained nurses at the University of New Brunswick and the University of Ottawa prior to pursuing graduate studies in health policy and joining the federal public service in 1985. In the years leading up to her retirement in 2007, she served in Health Canada's Northern Secretariat with responsibility for health services in the Yukon, Nunavut and North West Territories. She served a wide variety of church and community volunteer organizations, from assisting students with remedial reading support, through volunteering at musical events to co-ordinating volunteers and cooking at Out of the Cold Suppers.
At the time of her death she was Chairperson of her church congregational council. In the course of her work, Margaret travelled widely throughout the country and represented Canada abroad on many occasions. She also enjoyed personal travel with Lawrence and other family members, most recently to Ireland in September.
