NICHOLAS JOSEPH WILLIAM POON YOUNG
Nicholas Joseph William "Chomps" Poon Young, 29, beloved son of Germaine and Derrick Poon Young of Ottawa, Ontario, died suddenly on April 1, 2022 in Toronto, Ontario. He was born July 18, 1992 in Ottawa and attended Devonshire Elementary School and Nepean High School in the area.
Nicholas was a unique person with a kind and fiery spirit, and was always ready for the next adventure. During his life, he gained professional experience in digital photography and music video direction and production. He enjoyed international travel and culinary exploration.
He leaves behind heartbroken parents, older brother Matthew, sisters Krysten, Celisse, Aliyah and Mireya, brother-in-law Neilsen Drayton, and many beloved cousins in Trinidad. Nephew of Vilma Alexis, Peter Salina (deceased), Ita Salina, Viator Salina, Judy Fuller (deceased), Bertin Salina, Bryan Salina and Nigel Salina; Patricia Poon Young (deceased), Clinton Poon Young, Lou Vanessa Poon Young, Genevieve Poon Young (New York) and Hayden Poon Young (New York).
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 100 Young Street in Ottawa. A short celebration of Nicholas' life will follow in the lower hall of the church. He will be buried in Hope Cemetery, 4660 Bank Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1T 3W7. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Nicholas's memory to aspiring young creative artists, youth resource centers, families in need and animal shelters.
