Ottawa, Ontario — Laurence (Larry) Taylor Moncrieff, aged 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, following a brief illness.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Lucienne (Lefebvre) Moncrieff; sons, Keith (Heather) Moncrieff and Bruce (Sarita) Moncrieff; daughters, Linda (Marcel) Sarazin and Gail Moncrieff (Chris Ross); and cherished grandchildren: Amanda Moncrieff (Joel Gadoua), Stephanie (Shawn) Colasante, Sophie Sarazin (Antoine Daignault), François Sarazin (Helen Rokas), Olivia Jermyn (Tsonky Gonzales), and Nolan Jermyn. Larry was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Austin and Evelyn. He is survived by his half-siblings, Gwen and Mitchell Moncrieff, along with their families, as well as extended family and dear friends.
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Laurence Mitchell Moncrieff and Dorothy Winall Taylor, Larry later settled in Ottawa, where he and Lucienne raised their family. He worked with dedication at the Bank of Canada from 1954 until his retirement in 1991.
Larry had a passion for travel and explored both Canada and destinations around the world. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending winters in Mexico, making wine, tending his garden, and connecting with neighbours and friends.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Funeral Co-Operative of Ottawa (419 St. Laurent Blvd., Ottawa). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
