GOLDING, KATHERINE ELIZABETH (nee McLeod) passed away at the age of 78, on March 24, 2016, after a valiant fight with cancer. She spent her last days at May Court Hospice and died peacefully in her sleep; her daughter was by her side. Beloved wife of Cecil Harvey Golding (deceased), cherished mother of Ronald (Margaret Seelen), Daniel, and Diane (Nick Bennett); loving grandmother of Paul, Emily, Lauren, Jonathan, Briana, Nina, Anna and grand-dog Mikke; daughter of Neil Joseph McLeod and Annie Campbell Semple Cochrane McLeod (both deceased) and sister to Bob McLeod (Claire O'Donoghue), and Daniel McLeod (Rose Kehoe). Kathy will be terribly missed by nieces, nephews, and a host of friends from where she lived: Ottawa, Michigan, Australia, and Hawkesbury. Though taken from us too soon, Kathy will be remembered for her kind and generous heart, and a lifetime spent as a loving caregiver to her and Cecil's parents, children, grandchildren, friends, and numerous surrogate "kids" who called Kathy "Mum". Kathy was an exceptional sewer, cross-stitcher, and knitter, and was always eager to try new crafts, and share her skills with her many friends at The Good Companions senior's centre. She was known for her infectious laugh, positive spirit, and Cape Breton hospitality which she extended to all, without exception. We wish to thank the teams at Ottawa Civic Hospital Cancer Centre and May Court Hospice for their devotion and support to Kathy and family throughout this journey. A Celebration of Life in Kathy's honour will be held on Sunday, May 1st at Patty's Pub, 1186 Bank St, Ottawa, ON from 2:00pm 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, Kathy would appreciate memorial donations be made to support May Court Hospice: http://www.hospicecareottawa.ca/donate-now.html; cheques/money orders may be made out to Hospice Care Ottawa (May Court Site) and mailed to 114 Cameron Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 0X1.
