Peacefully in hospital, surrounded by family, on Wednesday January 13, 2015, age 82. Predeceased just two months ago by her beloved husband Bill, after 61 years of marriage. Susan (Lynch) was the daughter of John and Agnes Lynch of Ottawa. Loving and loved mother of Kathleen, Jim, Margot (Peter), Laurie (Kelly) and Mike (Ann). Predeceased by son Louis in 1997. Devoted grandmother to five grandsons: Claro, Will, John, Louis and Joseph. Leaves behind three sisters, Patricia, Margaret (Jacques) and Eleanor, and sisters-in-law Margaret and Carol. Susan raised six children and then embarked on a second career as a book-keeper for several businesses. She kept her creative side busy learning hat-making, upholstery, wood-working, French and Chinese cooking, and stained-glass making. Susan made lifelong friends with the women in her bridge club, playing together for 60 years. She and Bill made frequent trips to New York City and enjoyed countless hours of music, theatre and movies together. She was, too, a wonderful storyteller, with keen memories of a childhood partly spent in Winnipeg and many summers at Allumettes Island and Constance Bay. But most of all, Mom will be remembered for her kind heart, and generous, humble nature. She was always ready to open the home or cottage and welcome family and friends, to share food and laughter, to comfort. She was, to her children and husband, a blessing. Friends may pay respects at Our Lady of Visitation Church, 5338 Bank Street, South Gloucester, on Saturday January 23, 2015. Visitation will be held in the church from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed immediately by funeral mass. Reception to follow in the church hall. In memoriam donations may be made to the Shepherds of Good Hope. Online condolences may be left at www.fco-cfo.coop.
