DAHMS, Christine May (Patterson)

December 9, 1916 - March 12, 2020

In Ottawa, peacefully in the company of loved ones, Christine aka Chris passed away. Beloved wife of the late Clarence (Cyril). she has left to mourn, with so many years of fond memories, her five children: Judith Rinfret (Peter) Patrica Fisher (Ken), Linda, Clifford (Sue Stewart), and Peter (Barbara Walter) and grandchildren: Alexandra Rinfret (Don Hancock), Kevin Rinfret (Sonja Larsen), Marc Rinfret (Joyce Henry), Matthew Rinfret (Leah Carson), John Bowen, Amanda Sneddon (Gregor), José Garcia Lozano (Sarah), Paul Garcia Lozano, Patrick Garcia Lozano (Mai Le), Dana Dahms (Lisa), David Dahms (Emma), Andrew Dahms (Evangeline), Sarah DesRochers (Justin), Elspeth Dahms (Mark Daoust), Angus Dahms and 19 great grand children. Predeceased by her brother, Henry Patterson, she will be dearly missed by brother in law Edwin Dahms (Olga) and sister in law, Louise Patterson. Christine was born in the Annapolis Valley (Nova Scotia), grew up in Montreal and, after marriage, lived near Huntingdon, Quebec where she established a reputation as an artist and a teacher. She spent her retirement years in Ottawa. Christine will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbours, and former students as kind, curious, creative, and compassionate. The family sincerely thanks the staff at the former Rideau Gardens and Rideau Place Retirement Residences and LHIN caregivers for unfailing kindness and care. St. Margaret’s Anglican Church community was very important to her. Given current health concerns, a public event to honour her long and lovely life will be held at a more appropriate time. Please no flowers.
